President Droupadi Murmu will arrive in Manipur at 12:30 pm for a two-day visit during which she will attend the 86th Nupi Lal Day observance and inaugurate a series of development projects.
Preparations have intensified across Imphal, with multiple departments coordinating to ensure a smooth and ceremonial welcome.
Her visit will begin with a guard of honour at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, followed by a stop at the historic Imphal Polo Ground (Mapal Kangjeibung).
The venue, regarded as one of the world’s oldest polo grounds and fresh off hosting the seven-day 15th Manipur International Polo Tournament, will feature a polo exhibition match in her honour.
In the evening, the President will attend a civic reception organised by the state government at the City Convention Centre, where she will unveil and lay foundation stones for a range of development initiatives, underscoring the Centre’s continued emphasis on the Northeast.

On December 12, President Murmu will visit the Nupi Lal Memorial Complex to pay tribute to Manipur’s women freedom fighters who led two significant uprisings in 1904 and 1939 against British rule. Following the observance, she will travel to the Senapati district to address a public gathering and roll out development projects for the region.
Ahead of her arrival, the 7-km route from the airport to the memorial complex is undergoing repairs and beautification, with repainting, decorations, and flags lining both sides of the road.
Nupi Lal, commemorated annually on December 12, remains a powerful symbol of Manipuri women’s courage and resistance.
The President’s visit marks the second high-profile trip to Manipur in three months. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on September 13 reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to accelerating development in Manipur as part of the broader vision for “Viksit Bharat” and “Viksit Manipur.”
