Kuki and Nepali (Gorkha) civil society leaders gathered at Lhangkichoi Village in Kangpokpi District for a historic get-together aimed at strengthening ties and reaffirming their commitment to peace and coexistence.
Organised by the Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA) under the theme “Get-Together of Kuki–Nepali (Gorkha) CSO Leaders,” the event highlighted the long-standing history of cooperation and cordial relations between the two communities in Sadar Hills. Speakers emphasised that peace, understanding, and brotherhood have always been central to Kuki–Nepali relations and must continue even during challenging times.
Leaders from both communities collectively resolved to prevent external forces from creating divisions and pledged to work together to safeguard the stability and harmony of Kangpokpi. The importance of fostering understanding among the younger generation was also underscored to ensure the legacy of unity is preserved.

Community elders, women leaders, and youth representatives reinforced the message that grassroots initiatives are crucial for healing divisions, rebuilding trust, and sustaining collective progress. Discussions also focused on future collaboration on social, cultural, and developmental initiatives to benefit all residents of Sadar Hills.
A symbolic handshake between Kuki and Nepali CSO leaders served as a powerful affirmation of shared destiny and mutual commitment to preserving their common heritage of peaceful coexistence. Leaders proposed establishing a coordinating committee to further strengthen bonds and expressed intentions to hold future community get-togethers.
The event concluded with a grand communal feast, symbolising unity and brotherhood, leaving a lasting impression of solidarity and shared purpose in Sadar Hills.
