The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur is set for its 11th convocation, scheduled for tomorrow, December 27 at the institute's administrative building.
A total of 244 students will receive degrees, including 23 PhDs, 28 MTechs, 28 MScs, and 155 BTechs.
During a press conference, NIT Manipur's director, DVLN Somayajulu, announced that the institute will also award five gold medals to the top performers in each BTech program.
The Chairman's Gold Medal will be awarded to Koukuntla Komal Reddy from the BTech Computer Science and Engineering program. The other gold medalists are Koukuntla Komal Reddy, Mutum Rajesh Meitei, Challa Dhanush Sri Karthik Reddy, Ural Oinam, and Meenika Thoudam.

Despite challenges faced by the state since May 2023, NIT Manipur has achieved significant milestones. The institute is ranked 129th among the top engineering institutions in India as per the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2024. It has also produced approximately 294 scientific publications recently.
NIT Manipur has made rapid progress in research activities, securing Rs 7.66 crores in funding for major projects during 2023-2024. Graduates have been placed in reputable companies such as HP, Power Grid Corporation, and L&T Construction.
The institute is actively involved in interdisciplinary research fields, including machine learning, robotics, artificial intelligence, and environmental sciences.
The Department of Civil Engineering at NIT Manipur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for academic collaboration with Delta Water Institute, Nanjing, China, and the Key Laboratory of Hydrometeorological Mechanism and Warning of the Ministry of Water Resources, School of Hydrology and Water Resources, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, China.
