Meghalaya homestay owner recalls last sighting of Raja-Sonam: “They ordered coffee”

New details have emerged in the mysterious death of Sonam Raghuvanshi during her honeymoon trip with husband Raja Raghuvanshi, as the owner of the homestay in Nongriat, a remote village in East Khasi Hills, spoke to the media.

Constantine, the owner of the homestay where the couple stayed, recalled their brief visit:

“They came here on May 22 around 4:30 pm. They stayed just one night and left the next morning at 5:30 am, saying they were heading to Cherrapunji. They arrived with one luggage and ordered coffee before going inside the room..for dinner, they took 'roti-sabji.”

The homestay, nestled near the iconic double-decker root bridge, is a popular destination among trekkers and nature enthusiasts. Visuals from the site have since surfaced, showing the tranquil surroundings where the couple spent their short stay.

The East Khasi Hills police are reportedly examining all travel and stay records as part of their ongoing investigation into the case, which has drawn national attention. Authorities are also speaking to locals, tour guides, and homestay operators in the area to reconstruct the couple’s movement in the days leading up to the incident.

Meanwhile, the serene village of Nongriat—usually a symbol of peace and natural beauty—finds itself at the center of a disturbing mystery.
