Mizoram facing financial troubles, Rs 3500 crore due from Centre, says CM Zoramthanga

Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga  while attending the 42nd Annual General Conference of the Mizoram Engineering Service Association (MESA) on September 15 at the Berawtlang Multipurpose Hall said that the state if currently facing financial troubles. 

Speaking upon the MESA souvenir's launch, the Chief Minister expressed his best wishes for the engineers. 

In his speech, the chief minister, Zoramthanga, said that an approximate amount of Rs 3500 crore already on the state budget expected from the central government has not been received. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the past three years, the state has not received funds that were expected from the central government. These difficulties have prevented us from going as we wanted in government jobs and other fields", he added.

The Chief Minister added that the challenges our nation has recently endured have made us realize how important it is to stand on our own two feet. God has provided us with our land, air, water, and subterranean resources in addition to giving us a good country. I would like to remember that engineers have an obligation to take advantage of this nation's resources and make it an independent nation.

With eight members, the Mizoram Engineering Service Association (MESA) was founded in 1972. There are now 144 PWD, 73 P&ED, 67 PHED, and 16 I&WRD active members.
