In a bid to promote youth development, the Indian Army's Black Cat Division, led by Brigadier Kunal Mukherjee launched the much-anticipated 17-football competition under the banner of Operation Sadbhavna in Sikkim.
Brigadier Mukherjee, articulating the essence of the initiative stated, "This initiative is not a one-time event but a continuous process. The Indian Army is here for the long run, collaborating with the community for sustained progress."
The competition, spanning 12 days, will witness the participation of seven teams vying for victory and the prestigious trophy. Speaking to reporters, Brigadier Mukherjee highlighted the primary focus on motivating students to excel in sports envisioning them as future athletes representing Sikkim in various national-level competitions.

Under the coordination of the Black Cat Division, the artillery regiment under 341 Field Regiment is spearheading the organization of the tournament. Brigadier Mukherjee expressed optimism that the event would serve as a catalyst encouraging parents to actively involve their children in sports recognizing its pivotal role in holistic development.
Looking ahead, Brigadier Mukherjee announced a slew of forthcoming projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure and community welfare across Sikkim. Scheduled inaugurations include two water management projects and a community development hall in the vicinity of Changu, with additional endeavours planned for the Forward Villages in March.
