Tripura Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma on Thursday urged citizens to come forward and take active steps to protect the environment, marking World Environment Day with a strong appeal for collective responsibility.
"On this World Environment Day, I extend my greetings to all. This day serves as a crucial opportunity to raise awareness about environmental protection. If we fail to keep our surroundings clean, green, and healthy, it will directly impact human civilisation," said Debbarma.
Highlighting the importance of forest conservation and sustainable practices, the Minister emphasised the need to plant more trees and avoid the use of plastic and other non-eco-friendly products.
He stressed that protecting the environment is not just a government responsibility but a collective effort.

“If we want a healthy Tripura, we must protect our forests and pay attention to catchment areas, as neglecting them leads to frequent floods. It is everyone’s duty to contribute toward building a greener and cleaner state,” he added.
Debbarma concluded by appealing to the people to take a pledge on this occasion — to plant trees, reduce plastic usage, and join hands in preserving the natural beauty of Tripura.
World Environment Day is celebrated annually on June 5 to encourage awareness and action for the protection of the environment. On this the event was oragnised by Tripura Pollution Control Board, in which an awarness rally was held where many students and others people have attended it.
