In a significant breakthrough in its ongoing anti-narcotics campaign, Tripura Police have arrested a notorious drug peddler and seized narcotics worth over a lakh rupees from the Motinagar area under West District.
The operation was carried out by personnel from the Amtali police station in Agartala, following a tip-off about illegal drug activity.
The raid, conducted on Friday evening, was led by Officer-in-Charge Himadri Sarkar and second officer Mrinal Kanti Pal.
The police team targeted the residence of Shukku Mia in the Motinagar locality, where they recovered 50 vials of brown sugar, 130 Yaba tablets, and an additional 33 grams of brown sugar stored in a container.

Shukku Mia was immediately arrested and taken into custody for further interrogation.
A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and he is scheduled to be produced before the court on Saturday.
OC Himadri Sarkar stated that the police will intensify their crackdown, targeting shops and residences being used as fronts for drug distribution. “We are determined to rid this area of the drug menace,” he affirmed.
