Tension prevails at Powai Tea Estate under Margherita Sub division in Assam after a BJP youth leader and his brother allegedly killed a man on Tuesday night.
According to local residents of Powai Tea Estate Natun line under Digboi Police Station of Margherita Sub Division, Nirmal Das Kalandi, BJP youth leader and Secretary of Bharatiya Chah Mazdoor Sangha of Branch and his brother Parimal Das Kalandi, on tuesday evening brutally beat Namku Tanti.
After this, Munglu Tanti went to ask them why they had beaten his son. Soon after, local residents of Powai Tea Estate Natun line observed the dead body of Munglu Tanti near the railway track.
Local residents said that on Tuesday evening Nirmal Das Kalandi and his brother Parimal Das Kalandi brutally beat Munglu Tanti and his body was discovered later.
After hearing this, family members of the deceased Munglu Tanti lodged a FIR at Digboi Police station, but it has been alleged that due to political patronage, till now, Digboi police have not arrested the brothers.
Today in the evening, local residents of Powai Tea Estate Natun line blocked the NH 38 road for more than 1 hour for not arresting the brothers, where they shouted various slogans against Digboi Police and Margherita Administration. Vehicles were stranded at NH 38 road which have created a traffic snarl.
