KOKRAJHAR: Days before the commencement of the elections in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), the Kokrajhar police on Tuesday recovered one AK-47 at the Bathouguri village in Assam's Kokrajhar district. The elections in the BTC shall be held in 2 phases (on December 7 and December 10) while counting of votes shall be held on December 12.

"A search operation was launched based on secret information that illegal arms and ammunition were being kept concealed in the area. The operation was under the leadership of Mukut Rabha, APS, ASP HQ," officials said.

The officials recovered an AK-47 rifle, 290 7.62 bullets, and 19 3.03 bullets, which were kept concealed near a fish pond in the village.
