The England women’s cricket team have beaten the Indian lasses by 41 runs in the first of three T-20 encounters to be held at the ACA cricket stadium at Barsapara in Guwahati.
Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, the England team scored a respectable 160/4 in the 20 overs, with Tammy Beaumont (62) and skipper Heather Knight (40) being the valuable contributors.
Chasing the target, the Indian team fell well short as they could not score freely due to disciplined bowling from the English girls and the innings ended at 119/6.
It is to be mentioned that the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has made the entry for three matches which will be played at the stadium free in a bid to promote women’s cricket in the state. The remaining two matches will be played on 7 March and 9 March, respectively.
