Assam: Illegal mobile saw mill and timber laden vehicle seized in Goalpara

The Goalpara forest division in an operation carried out in Rangjuli seized mobile timber mills and an alto car laden with timber on December 23.

Acting on specific inputs, the Goalpara district forest department managed to seize a mobole timber mill. As per sources, timber smugglers have been adopting several tactics to smuggle timber. This time a group of smugglers were running illegal timber business in the Karipara area by illegally running the mobile mill and cutting teak trees in different parts of the state.

Later, the mobile timber mill and the Alto car loaded with wood was brought to Rangjuli forest office. In different parts of the district, the smugglers are running the smuggling trade using mobile timber mills. The forest department said that the forest department will continue its vigorous drive against the illegal mobile timber mill.
