Assam: Over 200 kg ganja seized in Dhubri district, two arrested

In the Chagolia region of the Dhubri District, the Chagolia police have seized a sizable amount of ganja, or cannabis, in a noteworthy operation. 

Two people were taken into custody and illegal materials were seized as a consequence of the Thursday morning operation.

Based on a tip-off, Chagolia police conducted naka checking on National Highway 17, where two cars and a whopping 203.75 kg of ganja hidden in 46 packs were found from the cars, a Nexon and a Baleno, with licence plates TR-05F-0772 and TR-01BH-0787, respectively, were detained by the police.

According to Hirakjyoti Das, in-charge sub-inspector of the operation said that both suspected smugglers Raj Kumar Sarkar and Bijay Das, are residents of Tripura and were taken into custody as a result of the operation.

A preliminary investigation by law enforcement revealed that the two vehicles were en route from Agartala in Tripura to Siliguri in West Bengal. 

The illicit cargo was likely destined for distribution in the West Bengal area, said SI, Das.
