While speaking during the 4th Conclave of the Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) here today, Mizoram's Chief Minister Zoramthanga said that the region is under serious because of the porous international borders.

He said that the border areas are vulnerable due to human trafficking. He said that Northeast is bordered by Myanmar, Bangladesh, and China, which is causing the Northeast the brunt of its problems.

He further stated that Mizoram was once most disturbed in India, but now, most peaceful

in the entire Northeast region, within "a single stroke". He said that not a single boy has gone underground, not a single bullet has been fired, and not a single gun has been seized. He said that a similar example can be followed in the entire region.

The Mizoram Chief Minister said that "development is the need" in the region. He also said that Mizoram will be an example by revolutionizing shifting Jhum Cultivation, an age-old agricultural practice in the region. He said that this can revolutionize the economy of the entire region. He alleged that enemies try to instigate sentiments of the people living in the region.

Zoramthanga also stated that the Northeast must also be excused from the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill due to the "sensitive nature" of the region.
