Assam: Dibrugarh INDIA candidate Lurinjyoti Gogoi's aide's residence burnt, vandalized hours before polls

Just hours before the commencement of polling, a distressing incident unfolded in Assam, particularly impacting the camp of Lurinjyoti Gogoi,  parliamentary candidate of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP).

Supporters of Gogoi, who is running for Member of Parliament from Dibrugarh, found themselves targeted as their residences were vandalized and set ablaze by unidentified perpetrators.

Lurinjyoti Gogoi, who is pitted against the formidable former Chief Minister and current Union Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, now faces not just a political battle but also the repercussions of this unsettling act of violence against his supporters.

The unfortunate event occurred in the village of Nau-Saudang in Tingkhang, Assam. At least four houses belonging to fervent supporters of Gogoi fell victim to the flames in a coordinated attack during the night.

Among the affected properties were the verandah, the tea garden shed house owned by Pawan Bora, as well as the residences of Praveen Gogoi and Yadav Bara. This unsettling act of arson unfolded mere hours before the scheduled polling, causing considerable distress and alarm in the vicinity.

The incident is particularly significant as it unfolded in close proximity to polling station number 35 of the Nau-Saudang Primary School, adding an extra layer of tension and concern to the electoral process.
