Assam Lok Sabha Election: Quick response team's vehicle submerge in Sadiya, poll officials escape unhurt

During the Lok Sabha polling in Assam's Sadiya, a tragic incident unfolded as a vehicle belonging to the quick response team plunged into the Deopani River on Friday, as reported.

The mishap occurred at Dibang Ghat in the morning while the team was en route to address a malfunctioning EVM in Amarpur. The vehicle, bearing registration number AS23AA-9433, was traveling from Sadiya when it encountered the unfortunate incident.

Sources reveal that as the team traversed, the water levels of the Deopani River suddenly surged, leading to the submersion of the vehicle. Fortunately, the driver managed to escape from the car, averting a potential tragedy.

Subsequently, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was alerted and swiftly arrived at the scene to rescue the submerged vehicle. Despite the brief period during which the Electoral Quick Response Team's vehicle remained stuck in the Deopani River, timely intervention from the SDRF ensured its recovery.

An official from the Quick Response Team, along with the driver, was reportedly crossing the Deopani stream near Dibang Ghat when they received information about the EVM malfunction at a polling station in Amarpur, under the Sadiya assembly constituency. The incident involved a Baller car with the registration number AS 23A-9433 from Sadiya.

Following the incident, the SDRF promptly responded and successfully retrieved the submerged vehicle.
