Among the destroyed materials was a banner featuring the Congress party candidate, Pradyut Bordoloi.

The incident has drawn strong reactions, with Congress election campaign committee chairman, Bir Kumar Konwar, present at the scene.

Allegations are being made that this act of vandalism is a desperate move by the opposition, who are allegedly fearful of the rising support for the Congress.
