Manipur Lok Sabha elections 2024: CEO launch signature campaign; 94 special polling stations identified for IDPs

A Signature Campaign designed to promote electoral participation was initiated today from the Chief Electoral Officer's Office. 

A signature campaign was launched by the chief electoral officer of Manipur PK Jha.

The campaign aims to encourage all voters, especially the youth, to exercise their right to vote in a free, fair, and peaceful manner, without any external influences. 

Various means such as explainer videos on applications like C-Vigil, 1950 (toll-free), Know Your Candidate (KYC), Saksham, and Voter Helpline have been used to spread awareness. 

Large billboards and posters have been put up across the state, and TV/Radio talks and jingles have been initiated in light of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. 

Efforts are also being made to ensure that Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) can cast their votes. 

The first round of EVM/VVPAT randomisation was completed on 23rd March 2024, with the second round carried out today, April 5, by respective Returning Officers. EVM/VVPAT commissioning has begun in all districts, with 64 engineers from Electronics Corporation of India Ltd. assigned to this task.

All contesting candidates have been informed about their presence during the second randomisation and commissioning process. Training of polling personnel is also underway. 

Observers from the Election Commission of India have arrived to oversee the election preparations. 

Special polling stations have been set up across the state to facilitate voting by IDPs.

Notably in Phase 1, a total of 85 polling stations have been identified (28 Inner Manipur and 57 Outer Manipur)

In Phase 2, a total of 94 polling stations have been identified (29 Inner Manipur and 65 Outer Manipur).

ID Forms were distributed in all the relief camps to facilitate their seamless voting on Poll Day. 

So far, 17425 ID Forms have been distributed and 9875 forms have been submitted back. The number may increase further, in the next few days.

On the otherhand, 118 number of Model Polling Stations will be set up across the State out of which 91 of it will be exclusively managed by Women Polling Personnel. 

There will be a total of 806, Woman-managed polling Stations and 4 Polling Stations will be exclusively managed by Polling Personnel belonging to the PWD category.
