Priyanka Gandhi accuses PM Modi of abandoning Northeast, slams BJP of spreading false narrative about Congress' manifesto

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on May 1 accused Prime Minister Modi of abandoning the Northeast region.

Speaking to India Today NE, Priyanka Gandhi said, "I think PM Modi has abandoned the northeast region."

Responding to the BJP's continuous criticism of the Congress party's manifesto, Vadra defended it, stating that it outlines everything the party intends to do for the nation's people.

She also accused the BJP of creating a false narrative against the Congress party without thoroughly examining their manifesto.

It is to be mentioned here that Gandhi is here in Assam's Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency to campaign for Congress candidate Rakibul Hussain.

Speaking passionately at the rally, Gandhi emphasized the rich tapestry of religious coexistence in India, citing her brother's nationwide rally from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Manipur to Odisha as a testament to the unity of the nation.

However, Gandhi expressed grave concerns over the prevailing political landscape, highlighting the stifling of media and public dissent by the ruling party, which she accused of deviating from the path of truth.

Drawing a sharp contrast between the governance in Assam under the BJP and Congress-led states, Gandhi criticized the alleged prevalence of mafia rule and neglect of public welfare in Assam, where she claimed development had taken a backseat to corruption and favouritism towards big businesses.
