Guwahati is all set to host the prestigious and the most glamourous cine award function, the Filmfare Awards in Assam, in the month of February 2010.
This is the first time that the gala event will be conducted outside Bollywood's capital, Mumbai.
It has been reported that by this month, an MoU will be signed between Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and the Times Group for organizing the Filmfare Awards.

As per the state government’s initiative to promote tourism at national and international levels, the function will be held in Guwahati. The award function is likely to be held on February 15 and is expected to incur a total expense of Rs 20 to Rs 30 crore.
The state government also announced lucrative incentives to all language movies that will be shot in Assam, hence promoting tourism under Assam Tourism Policy.
