The flying squads of the Election Commission, Assam police and Static Surveillance Teams (SST) have seized Rs 53 lakh in cash and liquor worth Rs 3.93 crore from various parts of the state in the last 48 hours.

&nbsp;

In the last 10 days, the flying squads, Assam police and Static Surveillance Teams have seized Rs 3.25 crore in cash from various parts of the state. Moreover, these teams have seized huge quantities of liquor worth Rs 5.04 crore.

&nbsp;

On 7 and 8 March, the flying squads and Assam police seized 17106 litres of liquor from various parts of Assam. The Excise department alone seized 28541 litres of liquor from various parts of the state on March 7. The flying squads also seized contraband worth 65 lakhs on March 7 from across the state. On March 8, the flying squads seized Rs 19 lakh in cash and 19829 litres of liquor. Moreover, the Excise department of Assam seized 41690 litres of liquor worth over Rs 3.51 crore.

In addition, 23 cases regarding violation of MCC have been reported in several districts of the poll-bound state till March 6.

It may be mentioned that the Election Commission has kept a strong vigil upon any complaint of a violation of the Model Code of Conduct and keeping close vigil against any suspicious movement of cash, valuables, liquor, contraband etc in the state.

An army soldier was killed in action after Pakistan army resorted to an unprovoked ceasefire violation on the Line of Control (LoC) in Sunderbani Sector in Rajouri district in Jammu &amp; Kashmir on June 4th, 2020 night.Hav Mathiazhagan P. was sustained severe injuries and rushed to the Army hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.“Own troops responded strongly to the enemy fire. In the incident, Hav Mathiazhagan P. was critically injured. In the operation, a soldier sustained injuries and was rushed to the Army hospital in Srinagar. Internet services were suspended in the region as a precautionary measure.On May 28th, 2020, the security forces including intelligence, army, police averted a major Pulwama-like terror attack in Jammu &amp; Kashmir. The troops of Assam Rifles and Manipur police seized contraband drugs worth over Rs 8.5 crore in Manipur’s Moreh area along the Indo-Myanmar border.A Manipur police team on June 5th, 2020, evening had seized huge quantity of WY stimulant tablets, brown sugar worth over Rs 5.18 crore and arrested a cadre of Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) along Moreh-Imphal route in Tengnoupal district.Tengnoupal district Superintendent of Police (SP) Th. Three Jaish-e-Muhammad militants, including an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) expert, were killed in an operation by the security forces in Pulwama in Jammu &amp; Kashmir on June 3rd, 2020.A firefight ensued after the militants opened up fire on the security forces, the army spokesperson said. The incident took place at Ayengund area of Rajpora, Pulwama after forces neutralised an IED recovered from a car.According to sources, the terrorists were planning to target a convoy of 20-25 vehicles that was to carry close to 400 soldiers, commanders and army officers, India TV reported.As per information, the attack was averted after Jammu and Kashmir Police and bomb squad of the Army detected a Santro car fitted with explosives and destroyed it. The vehicle was carrying 40-50 kg IED since debris of the car went up to 50 meters in the air after the explosive was neutralised in a technically controlled manner.Instead of defusing the explosive, the security forces decided to explode the IED along with the car. A video of the controlled explosion has now been released. In that, WB has 49.2%, Maharasthra has 32%, Assam has 12 and Punjab with 5.6%.As per popular imagination, the Chargesheet where the name of the former Union Min and FM has been said to be the Aircel-Maxis case. Sivasankaran also alleged that former Union minister Dayanidhi and his industrialist brother Kalanithi received kickbacks in the form of Maxis group’s investments (through the Astro network) in Sun TV Network, which is owned by the Maran family.On October 10, the CBI registered a case. Subramanian Swamy's tweet regarding CBI chargesheet traces links to Assam IAS officer?

The Kokrajhar police detained four persons including the husband over the alleged brutal murder of a woman in Kokrajhar district in Western Assam.The accused have been identified as Satiram Basumatary (husband), Gaidang Mushahary, Butonga Basumatary, and Rabin Basumatary.All the accused had allegedly beheaded the woman, identified as Bimola Basumatary alias Gaide Basumatary, located at around 15-kilometer distance from the Kokrajhar town on June 28th, 2020. The body was recovered by police at Sutarpara near Titaguri under the jurisdiction of Kokrajhar Police Station.After getting the cognizance of the incident, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The Anti-Corruption Bureau of Assam Police caught a Sub-Divisional Officer red-handed while accepting a bribe in Chirang district in Assam. The incident took place at Kajalgaon in Chirang district.The SDO (civil) has been identified as Jayanta Sarkar. Troops of Assam Rifles in an operation apprehended five active cadres of NSCN(IM) near Tseminyu in Kohima District of Nagaland on Jul 04.In a joint operation with state police, troops of Assam Rifles Wokha (Nagaland) battalion apprehended five active cadres of NSCN (IM) from general area Tseminyu road junction on 04 Jul 2020 &amp; also recovered arms &amp; ammunition from them.Earlier, troops of Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Nagaland Police apprehended three cadres of NSCN (K-YA) near Old Showba, Nikheku and Thilixu village in Dimapur, Nagaland between June 27th-28th, 2020.Based on specific inputs, the troops launched an operation and apprehended the cadres belonging to the proscribed group from the area. The apprehended cadres have been identified as SS Secy Hoto Swu, PS of SS Brig Akhao Zhimo, Fin Kilonser; SS Captain Huto, and SS Leacy Rolem. Tripura: NUJ(I) demands immediate action after journalist gets attacked

Troops of Assam Rifles along with Manipur Police busted an illegal arms workshop run by a suspected NSCN(IM) cadre near Lunguira Tang in Ukhrul District of Manipur on Jul 01.Based on specific input, the joint team launched a search operation in the area. During the detailed search, the troops busted an illegal arms manufacturing workshop run by Mr Lightson @Likeson, s/o Late John Shaiza. On seeing the search party, the individual fled from the spot abandoning the tools and spares used in fabrication and repair of small arms. At 2030 hrs, the suspect was coming along with motorcycle towards border village Bishkhawa Part-II, while the party tried to stop the motorcycle, the suspect was fled away from the spot throwing the consignment.  The operation party recovered 8007 nos of Yaba Tablets. Manipur: Assam rifles bust illegal arms workshop in Ukhrul

Dibrugarh police, Assam arrested an Assistant Professor of Mathematics of Dibrugarh University for allegedly uploading obscene videos on some websites. He was arrested in connection with an FIR filed by the Registrar of the University.The accused Assistant Professor, Dhrubajit Choudhury confessed before police during interrogation that he had made the obscene video which was uploaded in some websites.He was arrested under sections 294A, 500 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Unsatisfied with his reply, we lodged the FIR yesterday. We have also instituted an internal enquiry. The AR team was assisted by ASI Deepak Konthoujam,  Machi police station.The team conducted thorough search in suspected places since 0500 hours. Manipur: Assam Rifles recovers huge cache of arms, ammunition

The Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, MP Gupta has ordered a probe into the party on ship incident by some police officials on the river Brahmaputra, Assam on July 6th, 2020.During a telephonic conversation with the INSIDENE, Gupta said, “We have ordered an inquiry into the incident and the whole matter is under a joint CP level officer. We will take action as soon as the inquiry is completed. The lockdown was enforced to arrest the spread of COVID-19 in the city.Guwahati alone recorded 3165 confirmed cases since July 1st-7th, 2020 while the state has reported 4789 cases. Assam: Police officials party on ship defying lockdown rules; probe ordered

The troops of the Indian Army recovered a, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Tinsukia’s Lekhapani in Assam.As per information, the IED, wrapped in a polythene bag, was recovered along the National Highway 38 in Lekhapani.Later, the bomb squad rushed to the spot and diffused the IED. The incident has created a sensation in the region.Troops of the Indian Army recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Bogapani, located at around 8 km distance from Digboi in Tinsukia in Assam, on June 3rd, 2020.The IED, wrapped in a polythene, was recovered along the 36 No National Highway. Later, the IEDs were diffused by the bomb squad at the Polo ground field.Earlier, on May 25th, 2020, the troops of the Indian Army in a joint operation with Assam police busted a recruitment racket of banned militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA). And here an unfortunate Bacha who was just 2and half years old was brutally murdered by a man named Naren Tamang from Manay Dara Rongay just to show how dangerous he could be or as a sign of warning to his uncle’s family. The incident took place on 3rd of August 2020 in Manay Dara Rongay around 2pm where usually bacha was tied at the corridor of the owner’s house.“Bacha did not had any clue that he is going to be brutally murdered by a monster. The same da that monster came with khukuri and started stabbing Bacha on his head ,mouth until his tongue was into pieces. Bacha struggled for his life, he cried for help but unfortunately only lady owner was there and she was too scared to stop him. Bacha at his half concious state tried to run away but he failed and that monster again caught him and cut his ear and continuously hit him with Mungro on his head. After that he dragged him and threw him off the cliff nearby his house,” the organisation stated.The organization further stated, “Our PFA team was informed by some police personnel from Sadar Thana about this case around 8 pm. As soon as we heard the news we came into action and lodged FIR against the culprit. Also police did a commendable job by arresting the culprit the same day around 10 pm. We went to the spot with police force and try to find the dead body which was not an easy task but finally with the help of police force we were able to find the dead body of a poor dog. It was in a woeful condition. After that we took the dead body for post mortem in Sarah hospital. Now the case has been registered and we will see him in the court. Prime Minister Modi on Friday attended an all-party meeting amid the India-China standoff to discuss the latest developments. The sacrifices of the soldiers of the 16 Bihar Regiment foiled the attempt of the Chinese side to erect structures and also cleared the attempted transgression at this point of the LAC on that day.The words of PM Modi “Those who tried to transgress our land were taught a befitting lesson by our brave sons of soil”, succinctly summed up the ethos and the values of our armed forces. The Prime Minister further emphasised, “I want to assure you, that our armed forces will leave no stone unturned to protect our borders”.As for the issue regarding the lost territory, it further clairified that, What is Indian territory is clear from the map of India. This Government is strongly and resolutely committed to that. Insofar as there is some illegal occupation, the APM was briefed in great detail how over the last 60 years, more than 43,000 sq.km has been yielded under circumstances with which this country is well aware.
