Manipur: Indian Army continues reaching out to veteran armies through ESM rally

Defining the ethos of the Indian Armed Forces and displaying the Indian Army's steadfast commitment to its veterans and the spirit of comradery and solidarity, the Red Shield Division of Spear Corps organized yet another Ex-Servicemen, or the ESM Rally at Karong ground in Senapati District today after a fruitful similar rally at Bishnupur District on February 26.

Significantly, more than 500 Veterans, nine Veer Naris, 48 Widows and 21 dependents from Ukhrul, Kangpokpi, formerly Sadar Hills, Tamenglong, and Kamjong districts in Manipur participated in the event.

The rally aimed at facilitating the Ex-Servicemen community to register their grievances related to pension documentation and other anomalies was a success as dedicated assistance booths provide support and guidance to such grievances and crucial issues including healthcare were installed apart from ECHS Polyclinic services and a comprehensive range of facilities to address the unique needs and concerns of Ex-Servicemen attending the event.

Medical Specialists and Dental Specialists from the Army and District Civil Hospital also organized a free medical camp to provide medical assistance and provision of medicines to the rally attendees.

Veterans, Veer Naris, and Dependents interacted with the GOC Red Shield Division on the occasion.

Visibly delighted GOC Red Shield Division, Maj. Gen. SS Kartikeya, SM conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the veterans and their families for their sacrifices and services to the nation.

"You may be known as a retired Indian Army in society but for us, you are still part of the Indian Army's family", averred the GOC while conveying his utmost respect to the Veterans.

While assuring expeditious redressal of their issues, the GOC also appreciated the yeomen service by the Ex-Servicemen community to the Indian Army during the prevalent security situation in Manipur.

The GOC also inspected the various stalls set up for the Ex-Servicemen during the event accompanied by various other officials apart from presenting gifts to the Veterans, Veer Naris, and Widows while providing five wheelchairs to differently-abled Veterans.

A display of cultural dances from various Naga tribes and a mesmeric display by the pipe band marked the event.
