Naga beauty Gimlule Newme, the winner of the 'Miss Peren 2019' pageant in Nagaland has been appointed as the Ambassador of the Government's Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative in Peren district of Nagaland.

The 12th Miss Peren Beauty Pageant was held at All Saints Higher Secondary School Auditorium in Peren on Friday. At the end of the glamorous affair, Gimlule Newme was crowned as the Miss Peren 2019, while fellow Naga beauties Nengneichin and Miss Kedensi were crowned the 1st runner up and 2nd runner up of Miss Peren, 2019, respectively.
The pageant was organized by the Peren District Beauty and Aesthetic Society in collaboration with the Peren district administration and district level centre for women

The Naga beauty Newme has also been declared as the ambassador for BBBP, Peren, according to the women welfare officer of the programme in Peren.
Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao is a campaign of the Government of India that aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls in India. The scheme was launched with an initial funding of ₹100 crore, and has now been introduced in many corners of India.
