A former activist of Assam’s Existence Preservation Movement, Roy continues to visit the hills every day, dedicating himself selflessly to their protection. Despite lacking government support, funds, or recognition, he has become the silent guardian of the Sonakhuli hills.
“Without harbouring anger towards anyone, I will continue to safeguard these hills,” Purnachandra Roy said, underscoring his lifelong commitment to nature.
People like him, who quietly dedicate their lives to environmental protection, are what conservationists call the true warriors of nature.
