Tripura capital Agartala has ranked top among the 10 smart cities of the Northeast. The state ranks 56 and has bettered its earlier rank from 74.Agartala city is more than 150 years old.Agartala is the capital city of Tripura, a northeast Indian state. The huge, white Ujjayanta Palace, built-in 1901 by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya, has Mughal-style gardens with fountains. It houses the Tripura Government Museum, where displays include 9th-century sculptures. Nearby, ornate columns and pointed domes mark the Hindu temple, Jagannath Bari. North, Rabindra Kanan park has flowerbeds and a puppet house.In 1849 the than Maharaja Krishna Chandra Manikya shifted his capital from old Haveli to New Haveli, which is now Agartala.CM Biplab Deb shared a tweet on the matter.“Proud to share that Agartala has ranked top among 10 smart cities of the NE region. The national ranking of Agartala among the 100 Smart Cities has also improved to 56 from 74. Tripura: Agartala tops among smart cities in Northeast; 56th overall

India’s longest ropeway over a river was formally launched today in Guwhati. The ropeway connecting Guwahati with North Guwahati was launched by Assam Health, Finance, Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Guwahati Development Department minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya. The ropeway is 1.8 kilometre long and the distance shall be covered in 8-9 minutes. One way fare will cost Rs. 60, while both way fare will be Rs. 100.The ropeway will operate from Kachari Ghat in Panbazar upto the Dol Govinda temple in North Guwahati. Overlooking the beautiful Brahmaputra river, the ropeway will felicitate passengers to cross the river reducing the travel time by an impressive difference.Tourism in Assam is expected to get a major boost through the ropeway project. The ropeway is a twin track, single haul, bi-cable double reversible jig back system with two cabins wach capacity of 32 passengers. The cost of the ropeway project is Rs 5608.20 lakhs.The ropeway has been built as per State of Art technology following relevant Indian and International standards. The ropeway is a convenient and non-polluting means of transport, as well as a source of environmentally friendly tourism. On Saturday, when the whole state of Assam was busy observing Kati Bihu, locals of a village of Moran took to the streets in protests with earthen lamps. The villagers were protesting the long pending issue of electricity in their village. The village of Deodhai Bongali Gaon of course have electricity poles but there is no electricity in the village since ages. Electricity poles have been erected but the villagers still lives in darkness. The villagers dependent on earthen lamps to do their daily chores. Students study under these lamps. It has been more than 50 years of statehood for Nagaland since it became the 16th state of India on 1st December 1963. In such a long time, road conditions have not yet improved. Even though, four-lane national highways have been built from Dimapur (commercial hub) towards Kohima (capital of Nagaland) viz Manipur, the old issues still remain.<h2>The stakeholders</h2>Is the duty of providing good roads for the state, limited only to national highways? Where are the state MLAs and Cabinet Ministers since the four-lane national highway plan was passed under the central BJP Govt which they are allied to? What have they done towards the development of commercial hubs in Eastern Nagaland for example, where there are terrible road conditions prevail in rural areas?<h2>Initiatives</h2>The old Dhansiri bridge in the commercial hub of Dimapur, which is the major linking bridge that connects national highways with Manipur, has been officially under construction for the last three years. Earlier it was single lane but after reconstruction, it will be a double lane highway. The bridge was targeted to be finished within three years, at an estimated cost of Rs 9.8 crore, as officially declared in the year 2017, whereas the Nagarjan Dhansari bridge has been recently constructed. Why is the major bridge in the city lacking behind?<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.insidene.com/nagaland-coronavirus-rising-cases-brings-back-old-faultlines-in-state/" target="_blank">Also read: Nagaland: Rising coronavirus cases bring back old faultlines in state</a><h2>Fallout</h2>The public has been suffering for decades since the bridge road is the way towards Civil District Hospital, Treasury Office, and Railway station, although there are alternative road connections. The Minister of road and bridge, PWD, and the leaders of initiatives should now take serious action on exercising their duty since, in the incident of the bridge collapse of Bagla Nodi, the 4th mile in Dimapur has killed 4 people and five were injured. The representatives must ensure such happenings are not repeated in the future.<h2>Course of action</h2>In Eastern Nagaland, the two District road between Longleng-Tuensang has been slated in the year 2019 to be upgraded in the month of October through funds from the North East Council at an estimated cost of &nbsp;Rs 188 crore out of which 75 crores was already released to the department of PWD. However, again this year 2020, 19 February the Launching program of Rehabilitation and upgradation of Longleng-Tuensang road 51.6 km road under the North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS) was held. Why? The schemes have been sufficiently provided but the situation of the roads is horribly poor in terms of implementation. The long traditional of people's Rail will be turned into corporate rail thus the much proclaimed self reliant India will be nothing but an India owned by the Reliance Brothers and Company where Millions of homeless will be no longer find a safe place thereafter to pass their whole life on the Station platforms as they will be chased out of stations by Policeman while life of Railway Vendors Will be more miserable and will be hit hard to earn their livelihood which will be a direct blow to the lives of many  more Crores of their kith and Kin said Subhas Sen. Mizoram possesses a maximum percentage of geographical area as Bamboo forest and is also known as the "Bamboo Queen" of the country. As such, the state has undergone its highlighted to match the Centre's expectation on bamboo development. To address forward integration, the Mission is taking steps to strengthen marketing of bamboo products,especially those of handicraft items.Bamboos are evergreen perennial flowering plants in the subfamily Bambusoideae of the grass family Poaceae. Mizoram extends Centre's ambition on bamboo development

Ending the prolonged wait, Tripura, the northeastern tiny state, is set to shred its deadlock tag and become a logistic hub of trade and commerce. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has on Friday announced that a small ship has been scheduled to leave for Tripura’s Sonamura—the new protocol route of Indo-Bangla inland waterways on July 14 next. The ship will be reaching here in Sonamura located in Sepahijala district on July 18 next.According to the chief Minister, this will play a huge role in augmenting Tripura’s development and surely set a new paradigm for trade and business to grow. He also informed a gathering here in Agartala organized to launch Prime Minister’s Sanman Nidhi scheme that the inland waterway connectivity would reduce the prices of essential commodities in the state once it starts functioning in full fledged.“We haven’t even ever thought that this dream will come true in such a short period. On July 14 next a small ship will leave from Haldia port for Tripura and it will reach Tripura on July 18 next. The small vessel will be carrying TATA TMT bars. This can be seen as a big step towards becoming a model state in the days to come”, the Tripura Chief Minister told the gathering adding that the prices of essential commodities would decrease drastically in Tripura after it becomes operational.The Chief Minister said, the new government of Tripura is keen to promote the sector of self employment. “We are surveying in the rural areas of the state. In the rural parts, 1.5 lakh shop owners will be given easy loans to enhance their working capital. Sharing data, he said, there are more than 80,000 shop owners in the urban areas who are dependent on the business for their living. 44 per cent of these shops are run by the owner himself and the rest are being managed by help or paid employees in Tripura.The Chief Minister also took a dig at the recently published CMIE data that had shown Tripura unemployment rates in bad light placing it at the second position.“The data should be complete and well researched. Still the unemployment figures are being shown keeping 2001 census as its base. There are big chances of inaccuracy. According to the fresh government data, the unemployment rate has decreased”, he said.“The total number of unemployed persons in Tripura as of June 2019 is 173511. As per the National Career Service, it is 5%, based on total population. Whereas, as per NSO ( National Statistical Office under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation), the unemployment rate of Tripura is 6.8% which is based on the working population (15 years and above). A cost of Rs. 84 crore has been earmakred for the project.“Preliminary costing of the Shillong Ropeway is estimated at ₹84 Cr &amp; we target to complete it within 18 months post the issue of work order.
