Renowned spiritual leader Sadhguru while reacting on the implementation of the rules of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) said that the Act came too late and has too little compassion.&nbsp;

"Too little compassion coming too late", said Sadhguru while speaking at the India Today Conclave today. Sadhguru expressed his dismay over the contentious legislation, emphasizing its inadequacy in addressing the plight of marginalized individuals.

Sadhguru reflects on the historical context of partition and highlighted the promises made to those left on the other side of the border, with assurances of care and support. He added that over the past 75 years, many individuals have endured severe hardships without obtaining citizenship rights in India, despite relocating decades ago.

Sadhguru questioned the lack of accountability, asking if it is not a matter of shame that individuals remain stateless due to historical circumstances beyond their control. He stressed that this issue transcends controversy, urging for a collective acknowledgment of the injustice faced by these individuals.

He furthered a contrast at India's approach with that of theocratic nations, labeling their discriminatory laws as institutionalized oppression. While acknowledging societal imperfections, he asserted that India upholds equality under the law, unlike its neighboring countries where discrimination is enshrined in legal frameworks.

Regarding the CAA's cut-off date for granting citizenship, Sadhguru expressed reservations, suggesting that compassion should not be constrained by arbitrary timelines. He reiterated his belief that the legislation falls short of addressing the long-standing suffering endured by marginalized communities.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail by Delhi's Rouse Avenue court against arrest for skipping probe agency summons in the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. He was asked to furnish a personal bond of Rs 15,000 for the bail.

The Delhi Chief Minister appeared before the court following summons issued to him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case. Additional chief metropolitan magistrate (ACMM), Divya Malhotra granted the bail to Mr. Kejriwal.

Mr. Kejriwal violated Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code by skipping the ED's repeated summons in the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. The court summoned him after the ED informed that he skipped eight summons issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Accusing the Narendra Modi government of targeting Opposition leaders, Mr. Kejriwal skipped the "illegal" summons and insisted on appearing only through video-conferencing. However, the ED insisted on his physical appearance, stating there is no provision for virtual questioning.

Top AAP leaders, including former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, have been arrested by the ED in a money laundering case relating to Delhi's now-scrapped excise policy. Mr. Kejriwal's name has appeared multiple times in the ED's charge sheets, indicating his alleged involvement in the case.

Aam Aadmi Party has appointed MP Raghav Chadha as the leader of the party in Rajya Sabha replacing Sanjay Singh, according to sources.&nbsp;

Raghav Chadha will be the party’s leader in the Upper House in the absence of Sanjay Singh, who is having certain “health issues”, as stated in a letter to the Rajya Sabha Chairman.&nbsp;

AAP MP Sanjay Singh is currently behind bars in the Delhi liquor policy case.

The sources have informed that a letter has been received from the AAP conforming Chadha as the floor leader.&nbsp;

The letter is with the Rajya Sabha Secretary General for implementation.

Chadha is one of the youngest members of the Rajya Sabha. The AAP has a total of 10 MPs in the Upper House currently.

A day after the voting for 250 municipal wards of Delhi, the exit polls on December 5 predicted a majority for the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.

The votes will be tallied and the results will be announced on December 7.

As per the exit polls results, AAP would likely win 149 to 171 wards out of Delhi's 250, while the BJP could win 69 to 91 wards.

Notably, out of 250 seats in all, a party needs at least 126 seats to gain a majority.&nbsp;

With this development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to suffer its first defeat in MCD elections in 15 years.&nbsp;

The election for the municipal wards in Delhi saw about 50 per cent of eligible voters cast ballots as of Sunday at 5:30 p.m and both BJP and AAP claimed victory in the crucial race.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, voted in the MCD elections and urged the electorate to choose a group that removes obstacles rather than erect them.

With the AAP in charge of both the municipal council and the Delhi government, Kejriwal's party should have a smooth time implementing fundamental urban initiatives.

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has filed his nomination for the Majuli Assembly Constituency today.

&nbsp;

CM Sonowal will contest from Majuli for the second consecutive time.

&nbsp;

The chief minister has filed his papers at the Majuli district collector’s office on the last day of submitting nominations before Majuli Deputy Commissioner Bikram Kairi in the presence of state finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and AGP president, Atul Bora.

Elections to the 126-member assembly are scheduled to be held from March 27 in three phases.

Addressing media, the minister said, “BJP has betrayed us, the saffron party has humiliated us. It had continuously said that they are not interested to continue its alliance with our party in the forthcoming assembly elections in the state, with this BJP has insulted us.”

Moreover, Assam BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass has called BPF shameless, as they are still in the government, she said.

KOKRAJHAR: Laurence Islary, former General Secretary of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and one of signatories of the BTR accord, along with 2,000 others, today joined the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) at a grand joining ceremony held at Kangklabada in Kokrajhar.

&nbsp;

To extend humanity, welfare, and services in the region is the reason behind his joining the UPPL party, Islary said, addressing a gathering.

&nbsp;

Islary was associated with ABSU since 2001 and held several positions in the student’s union till he was relieved from the ABSU last.

The newly joined members were welcomed and felicitated by the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) chief and party president CEM Pramod Boro.

Further, the Chief Ministers of the other five States and Union Ministers of concerned Ministries will also participate in the virtual launch. The villages across 116 districts in the six States will join this programme through the Common Service Centres and Krishi Vigyan Kendras, maintaining the norms of social distancing in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.This campaign of 125 days, which will work in mission mode, will involve intensified and focused implementation of 25 different types of works to provide employment to the migrant workers on one hand and create infrastructure in the rural regions of the country on the other hand, with&nbsp; a resource envelope of Rs. 50,000 crore.A total of 116 Districts with more than 25,000 returnee migrant workers across six States, namely Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha have been chosen for the campaign which includes 27 Aspirational Districts. The BJP government in Manipur has lost majority. So far, 9 MLAs in Manipur have resigned from the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) led government. Out of the 9 MLAs, 3 are from the BJP, 4 National People's Party (NPP), 1 TMC and one independent. The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has welcomed the move. As per sources, the NPP and TMC MLAs will remain within their party but expressed support to Congress.This might come as a major jolt to the coalition government in Manipur headed by Chief Minister N Biren Singh. The three Manipur BJP sitting MLAs joined the Congress party and four NPP members, including a minister, an independent MLA of Jiribam and TMC MLA of the coalition, withdrew support from the coalition govt and expressed support to the Congress party. Manipur: BJP govt loses majority after 9 MLAs resign

The Tripura Forest Service exam has created an uproar among the indigenous communities in Tripura because of a notification. In an advertisement issued by the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSE) for the forest, the exam had mentioned all the pre-requisites. However, one of the pre-requisites has irked the tribal people of the state.In section B of the notification, stated "desirable in Bengali". The following statement misses out on the mention on Kokborok requirement. Kokborok is the main native language of the Borok (Tripura) people of the Indian state of Tripura and neighbouring areas of Bangladesh. The name comes from kok meaning "verbal" and borok meaning "human". Kokborok is closely related to the Boro, Dimasa and Kachari languages of the neighbouring state of Assam. As such, the avoidance of one of the official state language in the notification has been raised by Pradyot Manikya, Chairman of The Indigenous progressive regional alliance - T.I.P.R.A, Head of the Royal house of Tripura. He further mentioned the lack of political vacuum of the indigenous representation even "there are 20 tribal MLAs who support the state government" said Manikya.<h2>Meanwhile</h2>A political party known as TPF (Tripura People’s Front) staged a number of road blockades in seven separate areas of the state to make Pradyot Kishore Debbarman as the chief of the autonomous district council (ADC) council in order to suffice the public sentiment. Tripura: TPSE exam concerns raise lack of indigenous leadership?

After the political parties deserted from the BJP coalition government in Manipur, the new alliance looked forward to forming the government by forging an alliance with the Congress, which clinched a single majority in the 2017 state Legislative Assembly election. Congress welcomed the move, Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, Manipur Congress spokesperson said, “It is a historic day today on June 18 that Congress-led coalition parties have gone to Manipur’s Raj Bhavan to stake a claim for the new govt. under the leadership of Shri Okram Ibobi Singh &amp; requested Governor for special assembly for a vote of no confidence.”Conrad Sangma, the NPP chief and CM of Meghalaya also commented on the political erosion in a Manipur. “Yes the NPP withdrew support after the 3 BJP MLAs resigned”. Sangma also admitted problems in the political coalition with BJP, “there has been a bit of friction between the NPP and other parties and we brought this to the notice of the Central leadership and efforts were on to resolve this”. Manipur: Lack of clarity over floor test post-MLA resignations?

Welcoming the Innovative Voluntary Retirement Scheme introduced by MNF-led Chakma Autonomous District Council, the Chakma district MNYF on 22 June, Monday, stated that the scheme was introduced with a view to “improving the efficiency and strengthening the administration” in CADC and lambasted the CDBJP for deliberately spreading misgivings to mislead the people on the scheme in Mizoram.On 24 October, 2019, the Executive Committee of CADC notified the Voluntary Retirement Scheme vide Memo No. A.12032/41/2017-2018 CADC (G) inviting employees who have not less than 3 years of service for reaching superannuation and are willing to opt for voluntary retirement from their services for which the executive committee of Chakma Autonomous District Council, Mizoram may consider for the appointment of an eligible family member not above the level of the retiree.In a press release issued on 22 June, 2020, the MNYF welcomed the voluntary scheme introduced by the CADC and stated that it has been introduced with a view to improving the efficiency and strengthening the administration by streamlining the existing manpower in Mizoram.Citing that there are many senior employees under CADC who do not have the requisite qualification and have not been able to discharge their duties with the required level of competence, efficiency and effectiveness due to over aging, health issues and inadaptability to changes in work methods which has left the offices almost paralyzed, the MNYF said that the VRS is a compassionate gesture by the present executive committee towards such employees, otherwise who could have been compulsorily retired on ground of ineffectiveness as per rules in Mizoram.<a href="https://www.insidene.com/mizoram-5-3-richter-scale-earthquake-jolts-state-pm-modi-intervenes/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Also read: Mizoram: 5.3 richter scale earthquake jolts state, PM Modi intervenes</a>Further, the MNYF rejected the BJP’s allegation that the VRS system is a deliberate attempt to appoint the kith and kin of the Executive Committee of CADC as completely “bogus” and “misleading”. The youth wing buttressed the claim stating that the VRS scheme is open to any employee of CADC who fulfills the eligibility criteria under the provision and there is no involvement of favoritism in its implementation.The party’s youth wing also lambasted the Chakma district BJP’s accusations that the present executive committee of CADC is making “fresh appointment of illegal jobs” as “a deliberate attempt to portray the honest, well-intended and above board scheme of the CADC government in poor light by spreading misgivings and falsehood.”The CDMNYF further sought to dispel the misinterpretation of Governor’s notification vide Memo. No. A.11013/1/2000-DCA dated 16.8.2016 which had informed the autonomous district councils “not to make any recruitment for filling up of all categories of posts without prior approval of the Governor” by clarifying that the impugned notification had been already set aside and quashed by the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court, Aizawl Bench in WP(C) No.131 of 2018 on 23.1.2018 in Sh. I feel the central government will surely stand beside the families of the martyrs. But, both the governments should sit together and resolve the issues between them through a proper dialogue” the former Tripura CM told a condolence meeting of three veteran CITU leaders.The veteran communist leaders also hoped that the neighboring countries should keep their camaraderie intact for a cooperative bilateral atmosphere. “To protect the sovereignty of every individual as well as the country as a whole it is necessary to resolve issues between the neighboring countries. Assam: Himanta Biswa takes a jibe at Rahul Gandhi over Indo-China stand-off

The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) hold its General Council on Thursday despite the Session Court’s stay on it. The Council held at the AGP office located in Ambari was attended by top party leaders including Atul Bora, Keshav Mahanta and Brindaban Goswami. Party president and minister Atul Bora however said that the council was organized following all COVID-19 protocols.It may be mentioned that the court, based on an appeal filed by Girin Talukdar, Jiten Deka and Hemen Lahkar, had passed a verdict staying the council. This order was issued by the Court of Civil Judge No.3 in Kamrup (M) on Wednesday. According to the notice issued by AGP on August 10, the meeting was scheduled to be held on August 27.The restraining order stated, “The meeting is out and out illegal as it is against the constitution of AGP as well as against the COVID protocol”. The meeting violates the clause 26 of the constitution of AGP and the notification issued by the state government through State Disaster Management Department.“Holding of the meeting within the short interval of mere 17 days prima facie appears to be illegal in view of Article 25 (5) of Constitution of AGP, which speaks about the furnishing of at least 30 days prior notice from to the date of holding the meeting,” it said.Furthermore the order stated that the members expected to participate in the proposed meeting in connection with “impunged notice dated August 10 may exceed 50 persons considering the strength of executive committee as well as Quroum to be maintained in order to pass a resolution in the meeting which again maybe in contravention to the clause 3 dated August 13 issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Department. AGP General Council held despite court’s stay order

Congress legislator from Mariani Rupjyoti Kurmi is in the headlines once again. Kurmi has again opposed the Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) alliance. Talking to media persons, Kurmi said, “I have been opposing the alliance with AIUDF. I fully oppose the alliance.”Kurmi however stated that he is in favour of a grand alliance to bring regional and left parties under the same umbrella.
